Support is available before, during, and after the complaints process. You do not need to wait until you submit a complaint to ask for help.
General support and advocacy
These services can give you advice, help you understand your options, or advocate for you.

Stop 1 — general student inquiries, quick questions, and referrals to the right team
Stop 1 can help you at any point in the process. Before submitting a complaint, they can help you work out your options. During the process, they can connect you to the right person or service.
For example, Stop 1 can help you decide if your issue needs a formal complaint or a different type of review.

UMSU Student Advocacy — free, independent advocacy for individual complaints (all students)
UMSU advocates are independent of the University. They can help you before you submit and attend meetings with you during the process. They can also advise on your options after an outcome.

Support for specific issues
If your issue involves inappropriate, concerning, or threatening behaviour, or you need wellbeing support, these services can help.

Safer Community Program — harassment, bullying, or threatening behaviour Safer Community provides confidential advice and support. You do not need to decide what to do before you contact them. They can help you understand your options at your own pace. For example, if you are unsure about a staff member's behaviour, they can help you think it through. The Safer Community Program can also provide advice about managing interpersonal conflict.
